Child and Youth Care Worker

CHILD AND YOUTH CARE WORKER KAGISO YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTRE Responsibilities and Duties Monitoring the behaviour and activities of youth Serves as a positive role model Conduct and participate in basic life skills teaching Provide youth assistance with homework/schoolwork Assists in the developing and implementation of individual treatment plans and IDPs Teach social skills to youth as per ITP Prepare for admissions and discharges of youth Complete required program documentation Complete reports as required Assists nurse with administering medications etc. Conducts security / safety checks Participates in meetings and in-service training as required Transport youth as necessary Shift work as per roster, including some weekends and public holidays This is a live-in position and candidates must be willing to take responsibility for the cottage family style living on a 24 hour basis This full time position will suit a responsible person who is prepared to work according to the Girls and Boys Town South Africa values. Girls and Boys Town South Africa complies with the Employment Equity Act No.55A of 1988 Minimun Required Grade 12 Child and Youth Care qualification - NQF 5 Registration with SACSSP with proof of current membership Code 10 Drivers License with PDP Knowledge of the Childrens Act and justice system will be advantageous Experience Required At least five years general work experience with 2 years working with youth Personality, Attribute and Abilities of the Applicant Work both independently and as an active team member Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills Maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences Maintain professional demeanour while exercising judgment and discretion in work Commitment to the mission, values and goals of the Organisation Ability to relate to and willingness to engage in fun, sporting and creative activities with youth
