HVAC and Refrigeration Technician

Purpose of the role: We are looking for a skilled and motivated HVAC & Refrigeration Technician to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and ensuring HVAC & R systems operate at peak performance. Purpose of the Role is to install, maintain, and repair HVAC & Refrigeration systems to the highest standards, ensuring optimal performance, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted service delivery. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining system reliability while upholding strict safety and quality standards. Minimum Qualifications & Experience: Grade 12 (Matric) OTTC (Operating Theatre Technical Certificate), ACRA (Advanced Certificate in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning), or N-Stream Qualification Recognised Air Conditioning Trade Test Valid SAQCC Certificate (Safe Handling of Refrigerants) Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in HVAC & Refrigeration systems Proven experience in installation, servicing, and repairs Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability Valid Drivers License Electrical and controls knowledge (advantageous) Relevant safety training Willingness to travel and work extended hours when required Key Areas of Responsibility Install, service, maintain, and repair HVAC & R systems Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults accurately and efficiently Conduct testing of electrical circuits for continuity and safety Inspect system performance and proactively identify potential failures Assemble and install HVAC & R equipment Ensure full compliance with regulations, standards, and project specifications Supervise subcontractors and conduct quality inspections Provide cost-effective technical recommendations Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures and company policies Assist in identifying local HVAC & R manufacturers for technical support and skills transfer Technical Competencies Experience working with: Chilled water systems Cooling towers and pumps Split units Cold rooms and freezer rooms VRF / VRV systems Computer/server room cooling Packaged units Air handling units Multi-stage evaporative cooling systems Ventilation systems
