Role Purpose The Quality Control Financial Practice Manager is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of all accounting outputs within the practice. This role oversees the full quality assurance function, including reviewing financial work, monitoring staff performance, conducting internal audits, and maintaining adherence to professional standards and regulatory frameworks. The incumbent plays a critical leadership role in strengthening operational efficiency, mitigating risk, and ensuring that all client deliverables meet the highest professional and ethical standards. Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage the daily activities of accounting and finance staff, ensuring workloads are allocated effectively and deadlines are consistently met. Monitor team performance and productivity, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback where required. Conduct detailed reviews of financial statements, management accounts, reconciliations, tax submissions, and supporting schedules to ensure technical accuracy and compliance. Implement and maintain internal quality control systems, procedures, and checklists across all accounting functions. Perform internal audits on completed work to ensure adherence to professional standards, regulatory requirements, and firm policies. Identify errors, inconsistencies, or compliance risks and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly. Ensure that all deliverables align with applicable financial reporting standards and industry best practices. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory, accounting, and tax changes and ensure these are incorporated into internal processes. Collaborate with senior management to develop and refine operational procedures that improve efficiency and reduce risk exposure. Provide technical support and guidance to staff on complex accounting matters and quality standards. Assist with staff development, including training initiatives aimed at improving technical competence and quality awareness. Prepare internal quality reports, findings, and recommendations for leadership review. Ensure proper documentation and audit trails are maintained for all reviewed work. Role Requirements Must be registered with SAICA or SAIPA in good standing. Minimum of 5 years experience within a professional accounting practice environment. Demonstrated experience in supervising or managing staff within a finance or accounting setting. Strong technical accounting knowledge, including financial statement preparation and compliance requirements. Proven experience in performing reviews, internal audits, or quality control assessments. Proficiency in SAGE 50 accounting software is essential. Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management, and compliance frameworks. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. High level of accuracy and exceptional attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple deadlines. Professional integrity and commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct.
