Financial Manager

Reporting to: Director Job Purpose To oversee all financial operations, ensure accurate reporting to the Trial Balance level, and drive improvements in production and stock reporting systems. The role demands a hands-on approach to understand the meat processing operations while supervising key team members to support the company's growth and profitability. Key Responsibilities: Supervise the Accountant, Debtors Clerk, and Admin Clerk, including performance management, task delegation, and professional development. Manage weekly reconciliations for bank accounts, debtors, and stock. Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, highlighting key metrics on profitability, cash flow, and operational efficiency. Improve reporting systems for production and stock management. Actively engage in hands-on learning of meat processing intricacies, including plant floor observation, process mapping, and collaboration with operations teams to integrate financial insights into daily activities. Oversee cost control, identifying cost-saving opportunities. Ensure compliance with financial legislation, internal controls, and risk management, including audit preparation. Support strategic decision-making by analysing financial data related to markets, pricing, and supply chain efficiency. Qualifications and Experience: BCom in Accounting or Finance Articles 5 years in financial management, ideally in food processing, meat industry, or manufacturing. Proven experience supervising small finance teams and improving reporting systems. Strong knowledge of South African tax laws and accounting standards. Skills and Competencies: Advanced proficiency in Excel, ERP systems (e.g., Sage), and data analytics tools. Hands-on mindset with willingness to engage directly in processing plant operations. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced plant environment.
