Job Description

A well established firm based in Port Elizabeth is seeking a Tax Compliance Supervisor. Duties: Consultation/ preparation/ submission of non-residency applications Consultation/ preparation and submission of exempt applications Completion and submission of income tax returns for Companies, Trusts and Individuals. Reviewing of income tax assessments for Companies, Trusts, and Individuals. Preparation, completion, and submission of notice of objections and appeals when required Application for reduced assessments in terms of the Tax Administration Act Requesting SARS to remit various penalties for various entities and tax types Submission and follow-up of requests for reasons when SARS issues assessments without clarification Attending to various registrations - Income tax, VAT, PAYE, Customs (import and export), NPO, PBO, Turnover Tax, Estate Late, Bodies Corporates and Homeowners Associations Re-registrations - Income Tax, VAT, PAYE Manage request for dormant companies Preparation of tax computations for individuals and trusts Calculation, completion, and submission of provisional, income and dividend tax returns Application for tax clearance certificates Application for various tax directives Preparation and requesting of relevant supporting documents required including attending to mandatory SARS appointment Preparation and requesting of relevant supporting documents to appoint or update the public officer Attending to various SARS correspondence/queries/verifications Manage SARS applications relating to Application to SARS when an individual has ceased to be a SA tax resident, attending to SARS queries and calculation of possible deemed CGT Attend to e-mail and telephone queries to and from clients Administration of e-Filing and attending to the upkeep of clients' e-filing profiles Preparation, completion, and submission of IRP5 reconciliations Upkeeping of tax database Tax invoicing Perform new client take on procedures. Requirements: Grade 12 with accounting as a subject Tax or other relevant qualifications with a decent track record of work experience (5 years) Previous working experience as a Tax Compliance officer essential Registered Tax Practitioner or eligibility to be registered Liaising with SARS (proven track record of SARS appointments) Strong knowledge of tax compliance processes Fair competency with regard to the interpretation of tax law Work independently under the supervision of tax manager Support the tax manager with all administrative processes and work matters as set out above Competencies: Communication skills Interpersonal skills Client Service skills Training skills Numeric skills Leadership skills Delegation skills Conflict resolution skills Writing skills Competencies Computer literacy Ability to interpret and apply the Income Tax Act, Tax Administration Act and VAT Act for various tax related projects. Ability to work meticulously with minimum supervision Computer Literacy: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook Express) GreatSoft SARS E-Filing Working knowledge of Income Tax Act and Tax Administration Act Working knowledge of the SARS dispute resolution process LexisNexis (A fair understanding would be advantageous)
