Introduction Komatsu South Africa is seeking a qualified project Engineer to join the Remanufacturing Division based in Germiston. Summary description of role Engineering Project Management Plans continuous improvement projects one time project-based assignments Leads Project management tasks and meetings Leads change management and communication, removes project obstacles, tracks success, resolves issues, and prepares progress reports. Reports on the impact of continuous improvement initiatives in terms of pre-agreed measures Liaison & Change Management Communicates divisional specific information to all staff as per agreed communication plan from leadership Liaises with and fosters sound ethical stakeholder relationships Provides visionary change leadership regarding project initiatives Provides technical support and guidance to Operations in trouble shooting machine/process/component ICT related system issues Trains, coaches and mentors operational staff and customers on Komatsu machine ICT systems, e.g. EQP-Care, Real Display, PLM Continuous Process, Systems & Infrastructure Improvement Projects: Reman Production and Components Remains abreast of technical development, tools & best practice in the field of mechanical engineering / management / equipment maintenance / reliability engineering / of industrial engineering/ manufacturing/systems Defines the Reman project support strategy Leads/coordinates/supports & executes improvement projects/project teams/project initiatives aiming for internal Process, Systems & Infrastructure improvement and loss elimination Provides value added services to internal operations customers, e.g. conduct site investigations, technology studies focusing on production cost initiatives in, for example, increasing the reuse of component parts Creates relevant SOP (Standards Operating Procedures) documentation Analyses production processes with a view to implementation of Kaizen initiatives and improve the Reman process Develops accurate SAP Standards that include yield and production rates to track variances and assist in costing Manages Capex projects from proposal to completion, tracking KPIs and progress throughout. Maintains measurement systems, monitors compliance, reports issues and actions, and communicates project status and results. Qualifications BSc/BEng Mechanical/ Electrical/ Industrial engineering (essential) Certificate in Project Management (advantageous) Experience A minimum of 6 years experience in an environment related to the field of study, e.g. mechanical, electrical. A minimum of 3 years experience as a project engineer manager. Specific knowledge requirements MS Excel (Master) Microsoft Office (Intermediate) SAP BI (Master) Valid Drivers license Compilation of data extraction & reporting (such as reliability analysis & improvement action plan establishment experience) ISO experience & knowledge, Kaizen methodologies Mining or construction project environment and on earth moving equipment such as EDT/Mining Shovel/Support Equipment (Asset Management experience would be beneficial) Lean Manufacturing Experience in designing new tools and equipment Cost analysis and feasibility studies Tender processes and contracts negotiation Strategic engineering input for the planning and execution of projects
