Fitter and Turner

CTS Trailers, a leading manufacturer of truck and trailers is seeking a skilled Fitter and Turner for assembling, maintaining, and repairing truck and trailer components. The ideal candidate requires a combination of formal education and hands-on experience to ensure safe and efficient operations in a fast-paced production and service environment. Key Responsibilities: o Machining: Shaping metal parts (bushes, shafts, pins, gears shafts, etc) using various materials like steel, aluminium, etc. o Maintenance: Performing preventative and breakdown maintenance on mechanical equipment. o Safety: Strict adherence to occupational health and safety regulations. o Work Environment: Workshops or manufacturing plants with potential exposure to noise and industrial machinery. Requirements: Educational Background: A Grade 912 certificate with Mathematics and Physical Science is generally required. Apprenticeship/Training: Completion of a 3-year or 4-year apprenticeship (often QCTO-accredited) involving a combination of institutional training (theory) and workplace experience. Certification: Passing a trade test (Red Seal) advantage, if not minimum experience of 3 to 5 yrs. Skills: Precision Machining: Ability to operate lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders. Technical Drawing: Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and working from engineering blueprints. Hand Skills: Ability to use hand tools for filing, sawing, and assembling components. Maintenance & Fault-Finding: Ability to diagnose, dismantle, repair, and install complex mechanical assemblies.
