Job Description

About the Role The Credit Controller is responsible for independently managing a defined debtor portfolio by enforcing MIT credit terms, reducing overdue balances, resolving customer queries endtoend, and executing creditrisk controls. The role ensures accurate account maintenance , timely collections , and compliance with MIT credit policies , directly supporting strong cash flow and healthy debtor ageing. Key Responsibilities 1. Portfolio Management & Collections Daily monitoring of debtor ageing and overdue accounts Proactive followup to reduce overdue % and improve DSO Ensure cash collection targets are met Action debit balances immediately and ensure no unresolved unallocated items 2. Credit Limit & Order Control Review PIA accounts monthly and propose limit/terms changes Release orders within approval mandate, ensuring risk is covered Enforce stopsupply rules and escalate nonpayment 3. Query & RFC Resolution Drive full endtoend resolution of pricing, POD, RFC and account disputes Ensure credits are processed within SLA Respond to customer queries promptly and professionally 4. Account Administration & Reporting Maintain accurate customer master data in SAP (FD32, XD03) Process credit applications and trade references Prepare weekly/monthly exception reports, ageing commentary, and risk insights 5. Reconciliation & Allocation Oversight Perform mediumcomplexity reconciliations for large and midtier accounts Accurate allocation of payments, remittances, discounts, and adjustments Maintain clean accounts with full supporting documentation 6. Internal Collaboration & Customer Support Liaise with Sales, RFC, Dispatch, and Finance to unblock issues Communicate credit policies and stopsupply rules clearly Provide professional customer service and support Knowledge Requirements General Credit Knowledge Strong understanding of credit control processes and debtor management Knowledge of payment terms , risk indicators, and customer behaviour Understanding of reconciliations , openitem accounting, dispute categories Basic understanding of legal escalation , stopsupply, and credit terms Customer service and communication fundamentals Endtoend query resolution processes MIT-Specific Knowledge MIT credit policies, stop-supply rules, risk thresholds & approval hierarchy SOPs for releasing, RFC processing, POD requests, credit notes Use & interpretation of MIT dashboards ( MB0001, MB0016, MB0022/23/24/25 ) Internal escalation paths (Senior CC 2IC Manager Sales Dispatch) MIT VATexempt processing Monthend schedules & departmental performance expectations Technical Skills SAP proficiency (FBL5N, FD32, ZFI001, orderrelease workflows) Intermediate Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, filters) Mediumcomplexity reconciliation capability Ability to interpret age analyses, DSO drivers, overdue trends Strong documentation and recordkeeping discipline Ability to write clear, professional customer communication Analytical ability to identify earlystage debtor risk Behavioural Competencies Professional verbal & written communication Accountability & ownership over debtor portfolio Problemsolving and disputeresolution mindset Resilience under pressure and strong followthrough Prioritisation & time management Relationship management (internal & external) Critical thinking and pattern recognition in payment behaviour Minimum Requirements Credit Management II or III (preferred) OR National Diploma in Finance / Accounting OR Equivalent NQF 5 financial qualification 5 years credit control experience in FMCG, manufacturing, logistics, distribution, or wholesale Valid Drivers Licence (Code 8) Must be willing to work fulltime on-site in Germiston Must be willing to work 1 in 4 Saturdays (08:0013:00)
