Job Description

Role Purpose The primary purpose of this role is to perform brake testing on trackless mobile mining equipment in accordance with legislative, safety, and specification requirements. The role also supports mechanical repairs, fitment of safety systems, diagnostics, and compliance activities to ensure that all equipment operated on mine premises is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. Key Responsibilities Brake Testing & Compliance Perform brake testing on a variety of trackless mining equipment in line with legislative, mine, and OEM specifications. Ensure all brake testing is accurately conducted, verified, and documented for audit and compliance purposes. Interpret and apply compliance requirements including mine standards, risk assessments, and safety specifications. Mechanical & Technical Work Conduct mechanical repairs, servicing, and maintenance on vehicles and trackless mobile machinery. Diagnose and repair mechanical and hydraulic systems as required. Perform fitment of safety systems, accessories, and mechanical components. Use diagnostic tools to identify faults and confirm effective repairs. Documentation & Reporting Complete accurate service reports, brake test records, and job documentation. Maintain detailed records of work performed in line with company and client requirements. Support audits and inspections by providing technical documentation when required. Collaboration & Support Work closely with engineering, compliance, and operations teams to ensure equipment meets required standards. Provide technical support and guidance to clients and site personnel when required. Communicate technical findings clearly to internal stakeholders and customers. Safety & Quality Adhere strictly to safety, health, and environmental standards at all times. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company procedures and mine site rules. Promote a strong safety-first culture and quality workmanship. Qualifications & Experience Recognised mechanical trade qualification (Artisan Certificate, NQF Level 4 or equivalent). Minimum 35 years experience in mechanical diagnostics, repair, testing, and maintenance. Proven experience in fitment of vehicle systems and safety components . Working knowledge of hydraulic systems (advantageous). Experience interpreting technical drawings, manuals, and compliance documentation . Ability to develop and understand risk assessments . Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO and CAS Level 9 (advantageous). Proficient in the use of mechanical and diagnostic tools. Valid drivers licence. Medically fit and physically able to perform the duties of the role. Willingness to work outside normal working hours when operationally required. Prepared to work away from home and travel countrywide . Acknowledgement that all work is conducted on mine premises , in accordance with mine safety rules.
