Senior Bookkeeper Fast-Growing Homewares Business About the Company We are a dynamic and fast-growing homewares business with a strong focus on quality, design, and operational excellence. As our business continues to expand, we are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to take ownership of our financial records and support the business with accurate, timely financial information. This role is critical to ensuring smooth financial operations in a high-volume, fast-paced retail and distribution environment. Key Responsibilities The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for the full bookkeeping function up to trial balance, including but not limited to: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records and general ledger Processing day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments Managing debtors, creditors, invoicing, and cash book Performing bank and cash reconciliations Preparing and maintaining the trial balance VAT reconciliations and submissions, and liaising with SARS where required Processing journals and monthly ledger reconciliations Preparing monthly management accounts and reporting on variances Maintaining the fixed asset register, including depreciation, additions, and disposals Managing company assets and related insurance records Supporting budgeting, forecasting, audits, and year-end processes Assisting with payroll-related processing and statutory returns (e.g. EMP returns) Stock reconciliations and GRVs where applicable Qualifications Required Matric (essential) Diploma or Certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or Finance (advantageous) Experience Required Minimum 5 years experience in a senior bookkeeping or similar role Proven experience managing books up to trial balance Strong experience with accounting software (e.g. Pastel, Sage, MS Dynamics, or similar) High proficiency in MS Excel and financial reporting Experience in a retail, wholesale, distribution, or product-based business will be highly advantageous Skills and Competencies Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy Strong organisational and time-management skills Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving ability High levels of integrity, reliability, and professionalism Confident communicator with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
