Job Description

Purpose of the role: Ensure that the maintenance personnel repair and maintain equipment, machines, and facilities in a safe and good working condition. Plan, organize, lead and control the maintenance team to meet expected standards. Ensure quality, cost, delivery, safety, and morale standards are maintained within maintenance. Plan, design and project manage all new installations and refurbishments to existing equipment. Key Role Responsibilities: To fulfil duties as a GMR 2(1) appointee To report accurately and promptly on all maintenance related activities on site To facilitate and coordinate trials/projects with M&T/R&D To ensure the maintenance of equipment and facilities to Total Preventative Maintenance To conduct Practical Problem Solving (PPS) projects, when required To promote and implement continuous improvement and Lean initiatives Capture and report financial, material and HR data and trending the information Provide timeous feedback to management with regards to project status and identify non-conforming equipment accordingly Use data to resolve problems and reduce frequency of breakdowns Drive Group Safety Audit actions (IOs, SIOs, Safety Audits, Risk Assessments, Permit to Work, Lock, Tag, Try, amongst others) Prepare monthly site performance reports Update and maintain SWI, risk assessments, quality procedures and control plans Monitor maintenance team performance and manage absenteeism Lead PPS and CCAR investigations to determine root cause of quality concerns and implement permanent corrective actions Manage the plant maintenance system ensuring that the schedule is adhered to Implement preventative maintenance solutions for key equipment Allocate work to artisan team and monitor job completion, sign off job cards where applicable Order maintenance equipment and materials Liaise and negotiate outsourced maintenance services with engineering suppliers Control materials and engineering budget Design and purchase equipment as required Qualifications, Skills and experience: Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) Factories Trade test in Millwright will be beneficial 5 years related working experience within a Manufacturing environment Experience in Mining, Automotive or FMCG Industry will be advantageous Availability to work on standby is Essential Strong organizational & prioritization skills Good communication skills Computer literacy (i.e., MRP, MS Excel Advanced) Ability to manage suppliers and contractors effectively Solutions-oriented and self-motivated individual Be able to work in a pressured environment
