Refrigeration Assistant

Our client, a leading company in the cold storage sector, is urgently seeking a Refrigeration Assistant with CAT A Certification to join their team in City Deep, Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation and a keen interest in refrigeration systems, with the ability to support senior technicians in ensuring smooth operations. Key Responsibilities Assist with breakdowns and repair activities Support in maintaining the ammonia plant (oil changes, leak checks, and monitoring controls on the maintenance system) Assist with checking valves for suction, liquid, and hot gas lines Assist in the installation and servicing of compressors, condensers, and evaporators Support in replacing couplings and bearing drives Conduct general maintenance such as gluing PVC pipes, cleaning filters, and washing coils Assist with pressure testing and related maintenance checks Minimum Requirements 2-5 years experience working with refrigeration systems CAT A Certification (essential) Grade 12 or N3 qualification Personal Attributes Strong attention to detail Willingness to learn and grow in the refrigeration field Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Good teamwork and communication skills
