Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Certified Milling Artisan/Operators to join our operations team in Saldanha. A Milling Artisan Operator sets up, operates, and maintains milling machines to produce precision parts or process materials (like grain or timber) according to technical drawings, blueprints, or specifications. They perform CNC or conventional machining, including milling, boring, and drilling, while ensuring high quality through inspection, measuring, and adherence to safety protocols. Core Responsibilities: Machine Operation: Set up, adjust, and operate conventional or CNC milling machines to manufacture, cut, or shape components. Precision Work: Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and job cards to machine parts within specified tolerances. Quality Control: Perform "first-off" inspections and use measuring tools like micrometers, Vernier calipers, and height gauges to ensure accuracy. Maintenance: Perform routine machine checks, maintenance, and troubleshooting to prevent downtime. Safety & Housekeeping: Maintain a clean work environment, adhere to safety regulations, and report any malfunctions or, for specialized roles, manage product quality in milling plants. Requirements: Education: Grade 12 or equivalent; typically requires a recognized artisan trade qualification or technical certificate in machining. Experience: Proven experience operating milling machinery, with familiarity with CNC programming or precision tools. Skills: Ability to read blueprints, knowledge of materials, and precision measurement. Common Industries: Manufacturing/Engineering Agricultural (grain processing) Timber and woodworking
