BORING MILL OPERATOR

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Certified Boring Mill Operators to join our operations team in Saldanha. A Boring Mill Operator sets up and operates horizontal or vertical boring mills to machine, bore, and ream high-precision metal parts, castings, or weldments according to blueprints. They interpret technical drawings, calculate dimensions, operate CNC or manual controls, and use precision measuring tools like micrometers to ensure tolerances are met. Key Responsibilities Machine Set-up & Operation: Align, clamp, and secure heavy workpieces on the machine table using hoists. Machining: Bore, mill, drill, and ream parts to exact specifications, often involving tight tolerances. Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders. Measurement: Use precision tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) to inspect parts for quality. Maintenance & Safety: Perform routine maintenance on machines, sharpen tools, and adhere strictly to safety guidelines. Programming (if applicable): Setup, edit, and operate CNC programs. Required Qualifications & Skills Experience: Generally requires 3-5 years of experience in machining, specifically with horizontal or vertical boring mills. Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, shop mathematics, and using inspection tools. Equipment Knowledge: Experience with CNC controllers, feeds, speeds, and tooling. Physical Ability: Ability to lift, position, and fasten heavy metal components, often using jib or overhead cranes. Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
