Role Overview We are seeking a technically strong, commercially driven Technical Sales Representative to drive growth across the Gauteng market and selected frontier markets within Sub-Saharan Africa. The successful candidate will focus on solution-based selling into telecoms, fibre, data centre and related infrastructure environments. The role requires both new business development and management of existing client relationships. This is a field-based role in Johannesburg, reporting into management, with regular engagement with engineering and technical support teams. Key Responsibilities New Business Development Identify and secure new opportunities within telecom, data centre and infrastructure markets Develop relationships with consulting engineers, project managers and technical decision-makers Conduct site visits and technical assessments Present integrated power solutions tailored to client requirements Solution Selling Interpret client power requirements (load profiles, redundancy requirements, backup duration) Propose suitable UPS, battery, generator and DC solutions Work closely with technical teams to ensure correct system design Prepare technical and commercial proposals Account Management Maintain and grow existing accounts Provide after-sales support and follow-up Ensure client satisfaction and long-term retention Track project pipelines and forecast sales Tender & Proposal Support Assist with RFQ and tender responses Compile technical submissions with supporting documentation Coordinate with procurement and project teams to ensure accurate pricing Market Intelligence Monitor competitor activity Identify emerging infrastructure projects Track developments in telecom and data centre sectors Minimum Requirements Minimum 35 years experience in technical sales within: Electrical infrastructure UPS / standby power Generators Battery systems Telecom or data centre environments Proven track record in solution-based selling Strong technical aptitude and ability to interpret electrical requirements Valid drivers licence Willingness to travel within Gauteng and occasionally nationally Advantageous Existing relationships within telecom or data centre sector Understanding of redundancy configurations (N1, 2N, etc.) Exposure to containerised power solutions Electrical qualification or technical diploma Key Competencies Strong technical understanding Commercially astute Confident engaging with engineers and technical stakeholders Structured and disciplined sales approach Self-driven and target-oriented Professional presentation and communication skills Remuneration Negotiable basic salary (dependent on experience) Car allowance Cell phone allowance Company fuel card Incentive / commission structure (to be discussed) Ideal Candidate This role suits a technically capable sales professional who understands mission-critical power environments and is comfortable selling complete integrated power solutions rather than standalone products.
