Automation Electronics Technician

A leading automation and industrial technology company is seeking a skilled Automation Electronics Technician to join their dynamic team in Pinetown, Durban.This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong, detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in electronic systems, fault finding, and variable speed drive technology. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting, maintaining, and optimising advanced automation equipment to ensure efficient and reliable operation for clients. Responsibilities Conduct inspections, servicing, and maintenance on automation and electronic equipment. Diagnose electronic and electrical faults using technical drawings, manuals, and diagnostic tools. Perform repairs, component replacement, and testing to ensure optimal functionality. Work with variable speed drives and servo motor systems for commissioning, troubleshooting, and support. Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including service reports and technical notes. Provide exceptional customer service and technical support to clients when required. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organised work environment. Collaborate with internal teams to source parts, plan interventions, and improve system performance. Requirements Proven working experience in an Electronics Technician role. 5 years experience in the electronics field. Solid understanding of electrical principles and electronic signal flow. Hands-on experience with variable speed drives or servo motors (experience with VSDs is particularly important). Proven ability to fault-find using electrical drawings and schematics. Relevant qualifications in the electronics industry. Proficiency in English and MS Office. Detail-oriented, organised, and committed to quality and safety.
