Our focus is on precision, technical expertise, and reliability in delivering complex assemblies and spares for industrial clients. Role Overview We are seeking a Technical Buyer who will play a key role in the manufacturing process by sourcing and procuring all components required to assemble complex parts. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical knowledge of mechanical and engineered components, the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and familiarity with assembly processes. You will be responsible for procuring the parts that make up complete assemblies, such as rollers, hydraulic assemblies, and filter press components. This means understanding each assemblys sub-components, materials, and specifications, as shown on drawings and BOMs. Key Responsibilities Source, price, and procure technical, mechanical, and engineered components for manufacturing and complete assemblies. Interpret technical drawings and bills of materials (BOMs) to ensure the correct parts are procured for production. Prepare and issue quotes, purchase orders, and supplier contracts in line with approved requirements. Liaise with suppliers regarding lead times, overdue orders, pricing, and availability. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including negotiation on pricing, quality, and delivery timelines. Collaborate closely with engineering, production, and workshop teams to confirm technical requirements, lead times, and assembly needs. Track orders, manage lead times, and ensure on-time delivery to support production schedules. Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier databases, ensuring compliance with SAGE 50c Pastel and company systems. Manage supplier invoicing queries in liaison with finance. Ensure all procurement documentation is accurate, complete, and ISO compliant (POs, supplier invoices, GRVs). Support continuous improvement initiatives within procurement and supply chain processes. Drive compliance with ISO processes, including NCRs related to procurement activities. Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering, or a related field. 35 years experience in a technical procurement role, ideally in manufacturing or industrial environments. Strong knowledge of mechanical and engineered components, assemblies, and sub-assemblies. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and assembly models. Experience with SAGE 50c Pastel for procurement, stock, and financial reconciliation. Strong negotiation, communication, and organisational skills. Proficiency in MS Office and procurement/ERP systems.
