PC Technician / Build Specialist

About the Role We're looking for a hands-on PC technician to join our team. You'll be responsible for building custom PCs, quality control testing, and working directly with suppliers and clients on component sourcing and build quotations. Responsibilities Assemble custom PC builds to specification, ensuring quality and cable management standards Perform quality control testing on components and completed systems Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware issues Package systems securely for dispatch Coordinate with suppliers on stock availability and pricing Prepare quotes for client builds based on requirements and budget Maintain organised workstation and component inventory PC Assembly & Hardware: Component installation (CPU, RAM, GPU, storage, PSU, cooling) Cable management Thermal paste application AIO/air cooler mounting Understanding of component compatibility (socket types, RAM compatibility, PSU wattage requirements, case clearances) Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: POST failure diagnosis BIOS/UEFI configuration Using diagnostic tools (HWiNFO, CrystalDisk, MemTest, stress testing software) Identifying faulty components Driver installation and Windows setup QC & Testing: Stress testing and burn-in procedures Benchmarking Visual inspection standards ESD handling and precautions Admin & Communication: Excel for quoting and pricing Email communication Reading spec sheets and datasheets Basic inventory/stock awareness Supplier Interaction: Price negotiation Stock enquiries Understanding lead times and availability Ideal Candidate: Passionate about PC hardware Methodical with strong attention to detail Able to work independently and manage time effectively Takes pride in clean, professional builds Comfortable communicating with suppliers and clients Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Matric certificate Proven experience building and troubleshooting PCs Solid understanding of PC components, compatibility, and current hardware trends Ability to diagnose common hardware faults Good communication skills for supplier and client interaction Basic proficiency in Excel or quoting software Advantageous: A certification or similar technical qualification Experience in a retail or workshop environment Knowledge of current-gen components (AMD/Intel platforms, GPU configurations)
