Pride Health is hiring a Tumor Registrar to support our client’s medical facility based in Hicksville, NY 11801. This is an 8-week assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Role Overview: This is a Tumor Registrar position responsible for both cancer registry data management and registrar/front-end administrative duties. The role ensures complete and accurate cancer data collection in compliance with ACoS/CoC and NYS Department of Health guidelines, while also supporting patient registration and department business functions.

Primary Responsibilities: Identify and accession cancer cases using pathology, radiology, and oncology reports Abstract and enter required clinical data into registry software (METRIQ) Apply ICD-O coding, AJCC staging, and SEER guidelines Conduct annual follow-up of living cancer patients Maintain confidentiality and data security Prepare tumor registry reports and assist with Cancer Committee activities Support ACoS/CoC survey preparation and performance improvement initiatives Patient registration and demographic/insurance verification Update financial and emergency contact information Generate and review patient charts for completion Answer phones, greet patients/visitors, and provide directions Schedule appointments and obtain consent signatures Maintain logs, reconcile records, and file/retrieve charts Process laboratory specimens per policy Transport patients when required Support department operations and maintain a safe, organized environment

Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) – Required 2+ years of cancer registry experience Strong medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology knowledge Familiarity with ACoS/CoC and NYS DOH Cancer Registry guidelines Proficiency in METRIQ and hospital computer systems
