The Candidate

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced associate immigration attorney with 3 to 5 years experience specifically in removal defense to join our team. This position demands creative strategizing and the ability to adapt to the ever-changing world of immigration court practice. Primary responsibilities will include independently handling a removal defense case load including meeting with clients and working with paralegals and administrative staff to prepare pleadings, brief writing and in-depth knowledge of 4th Circuit specific case law.

The Position

A minimum of three to five years experience in removal defense is required.

Salary range:

Starting at $95,000. Commensurate with experience.

Prefer candidates that will work in-person in our Richmond, Virginia office but open to remote working from the greater DC area combined with consistent, weekly time in-person in the Richmond office.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

J.D. from a U.S. accredited law school. Admission to any state bar or the District of Columbia. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience practicing removal defense. Valid U.S. drivers license. Preferred Qualifications Licensed or eligible to practice in Maryland or Virginia. Fluency in Spanish (oral and written). Legal Skills Strong legal research and writing skills. Effective oral advocacy and courtroom presence. Extensive experience with removal defense in the courtroom. Cultural humility and trauma-informed practice in client engagement. Ability to manage own casework with minimal supervision.
