Apex Skin is a physician-led and rapidly growing dermatology practice committed to delivering exceptional patient experiences. We are seeking a talented and motivated
Mohs Medical Assistant
to support our providers with both clinical and administrative tasks in a surgery setting. This role includes assisting with surgical procedures involving the removal of skin cancers and other skin tumors, as well as administrative tasks like documenting in the EMR as a clinical scribe, supporting patient education, and performing front office duties as needed. Ideal candidates are certified in Medical Assisting, and demonstrate strong communication skills, clinical accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
This is a part-time, hourly position and
will require regular travel to the following Apex Skin locations: Mayfield Heights, Hudson, Concord.
Pay:
$17.00 – $21.00 per hour plus a travel allowance of $180 per month after 90 days
Schedule
Part-time, Tuesday through Thursday [24 hours per week]
Daytime clinical hours with occasional variations based on provider or patient needs.
Essential Functions
Performs initial patient assessment, evaluation, and health survey data
Provide pre-and post-optative education for both patient and family members
Prepping room, instruments, and patient for surgery or biopsies
Assist during surgeries by administering anesthesia, handoff instruments & cut sutures
Performs administrative tasks such as maintaining patient consent and maintaining records and documentation
Transcribes the entire visit and assures documentation of patient care is compliant.
Performs clerical tasks such as scheduling appointments and follow-up appointments, maintaining and following up with patient biopsy results, answering phones, and scanning documents into the EMR.
Monitor and complete lab documents, biopsy and culture book, telephone encounters, and team task box within the EMR.
Maintains nursing practice consistent with OSHA, HIPPA, QA safety regulations.
Assists with autoclave procedures and quality controls.
Qualifications
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask, stay organized, and manage time effectively
Customer service mindset with professionalism and patient focus
Proficiency in basic computer software, medical terminology, and EMR documentation
Ability to document clinical information accurately as a scribe (training provided)
2+ years of Medical Assistant experience preferred (dermatology experience is a plus)
Certification in Medical Assisting or Licensed Practical Nurse preferred
Surgical or MOHS experience preferred
Ability to travel to various Apex Skin locations on a regular basis

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting
Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, instrument preparation, and documentation
Ability to speak and hear clearly when interacting with patients and team members
Visual acuity sufficient to read medical documentation, EMR screens, and clinical notes
Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds (clinical materials, supplies, or files)
Work is performed in a professional clinical office environment with regular patient interaction and collaboration with providers and clinical staff
Requires consistent attention to detail and calm communication during patient visits or scheduling needs
May encounter urgent or time-sensitive patient situations requiring composure and sound judgment
Required to adhere to HIPAA, OSHA, and Apex Skin privacy and safety standards
