Data Center Technician
Location: Frisco TX (100% onsite)
Contract: 3 months + possible extension
Experience Required: 3+ Years
Overview
We are seeking a
Data Center Field Technician
to support data center and infrastructure deployments across customer environments. This role serves as the onsite lead and liaison, overseeing field execution, ensuring quality standards, and coordinating installation activities across multiple projects.
This position combines strong hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the onsite lead and liaison for partner resources and subcontractors
Analyze and interpret supporting documentation to stage devices according to predefined specifications
Develop documentation for site surveys and onsite installation activities
Conduct site surveys and review findings with customers and field engineers to ensure site readiness
Interview, schedule, manage, and coordinate field technicians across ongoing projects
Coordinate with Project Management teams to execute onsite deliverables
Train field technicians on quality standards and installation expectations
Perform Dead on Arrival (DOA) / Green Light testing
Conduct post-installation Quality Assurance
Integrate infrastructure components based on slotting matrices and cabling diagrams
Provide console management access to support remote engineering
Perform cabling installation (pulling, securing, splicing, running conduit, etc.)
Handle physical device placement including unboxing, racking, and mounting network equipment
Required Qualifications
Leadership experience managing small technical teams
Strong ability to adapt, collaborate, and make sound decisions
Knowledge of network cabling and fiber optic types
Understanding of infrastructure technologies and deployment processes
Familiarity with Cisco IOS, JunOS, and common networking protocols
Experience updating OS for Cisco, Juniper, and other networking devices
Experience with network implementations and technical support
Familiarity with Ekahau and network heat mapping tools
Data center experience required
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in a related field
Strong communication skills when working with customers and peers
Ability to manage complex project scopes and shifting priorities
Strong time management, organizational, and analytical skills
Preferred Certifications / Background
BICSI Installer or equivalent knowledge
CCENT / Network+ / A+ or equivalent knowledge
Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
