Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A critical care nursing opportunity is available for experienced RNs with expertise in intensive care unit (ICU) settings. This contract position is based in Jamaica, NY, offering a chance to apply advanced clinical skills in a fast-paced environment that manages complex trauma and critical care patients.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from an accredited nursing school
Registered Nurse license valid in New York State or by reciprocity
Minimum of three years of ICU experience preferred
Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and PALS required
Preferred certifications: CCRN and TNCC (not required)
Proficiency in managing patients with external ventricular drains (EVD), multiple medication drips, and use of specialized monitoring systems such as Hemosphere Flotrac
Skilled in trauma care for patients of varying severity
Competency in patient assessment tools including CAM, CPOT, and RASS
Experience with hypothermia treatment and pleurevac chest tube drainage care
Familiarity with electronic medical record systems, preferably Allscript EMR
Commitment to strict isolation precautions and infection control protocols
Knowledge of PCA pump usage
Adherence to established critical care standards and protocols

Responsibilities:
Deliver comprehensive critical care nursing to ICU patients during the overnight shift (7:00 PM 7:30 AM)
Conduct thorough patient assessments and implement evidence-based interventions
Manage complex trauma and medical cases with multiple interventions and monitoring requirements
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
Maintain meticulous documentation and compliance with hospital policies and protocols
Schedule:
Night shift: 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
Minimum guaranteed 34.5 hours per week
