Job Description
Plant Manager
Transformer Manufacturing
If you are a manufacturing leader who thrives on fixing what others tolerate, this role will speak to you. A well-established U.S. transformer manufacturer is hiring a hands-on Plant Manager to lead a single, high-impact facility. This is not a corporate desk role. This is visible, floor-based leadership where your presence, standards, and urgency directly shape performance.
You will step into a plant with strong demand, committed ownership, and meaningful capital investment already underway. What is missing is structured execution. That is where you come in.
Why This Opportunity Is Different
This is not a turnaround in distress. The business has a backlog. The market is there. Capital is being deployed. Leadership is aligned. What the plant needs is disciplined execution, measurable accountability, and a leader who brings clarity to daily performance. If you have ever walked a floor and thought, “This could run so much better,” this is your platform to prove it.
What You Will Own
You will report directly to executive leadership and oversee:
Value Stream Managers
Maintenance
Production Planning
Supply Chain
Quality
Your focus is operational excellence. You will own the cost ledger and be measured on:
Safety
Quality
Delivery
Cost
Inventory
Your mission:
Implement clear, measurable KPIs
Establish daily accountability rhythms
Clear past-due backlog and restore flow
Accelerate decision-making
Improve material and production flow within an aging footprint
Rebuild “Manufacturing 101” leadership standards
Capital investments are underway. Equipment is being upgraded. Leadership is supportive. The foundation is being laid. The next step is operational discipline.
Who Thrives Here
You likely fit one of these profiles:
Operations Manager ready to step into full Plant Manager scope
Plant Manager from a $15–30M facility seeking larger complexity
Current Value Stream Manager from a larger manufacturer wanting full-plant responsibility
A leader who grew up through quality, supervision, VSM, and operations
Industry Background
Transformer manufacturing is strongly preferred
Distribution or component experience
Three-phase exposure highly valued
Union manufacturing experience
Deep production floor leadership experience
Experience in repair or assembly environments is beneficial
Leadership Style
Visible and present on the floor
Clear, direct communicator
Structured but practical in Lean application
Focused on execution over reporting
What This Is Not
This is not an operational excellence consulting platform.
This is not a heavily layered corporate bureaucracy.
This is not a showcase facility with polished systems already in place.
This is not a fit for someone seeking a VP title progression.
This is for a builder.
