This job coordinates the overall provision of respiratory care, plans, develops and implements respiratory care programs; sets up all types of positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy as ordered by physicians, educates the patient on proper and safe use of equipment; monitors patient compliance data and conducts patient and physician follow-up on PAP patients as per Departmental Policy and Procedures.

Required - Associates degree in Science or related field. Graduate of an AMA-approved school of respiratory therapy

Work Experience Preferred - Experience with Positive Airway Pressue (PAP) therapy (CPAP or BIPAP). Preferred - Fluency in other language(s).

Required - Current valid state license/certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard. Knowledge of respiratory equipment. Reliable transportation to travel to patient homes to setup/monitor respiratory equipment. Sets up respiratory and PAP therapy equipment. Communicates with physicians and serves as a resource on PAP therapy. Participates in process improvement initiatives and resolves patient issues. Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards. There is no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
