03/16/2026 Job Description: This position is responsible for functioning as both a caregiver and care manager. In the caregiver role, the RN assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame implementing the Nursing Process. In the role of care manager, the RN directs and oversees the work of other caregivers, (nurses and non-nurses) via delegation, coordination, supervision, and validation/evaluation of patient care outcomes. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of Patient Care Services along with having the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. Responsibilities: Performs assessment/data collection, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status. Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner by utilization of/adherence to pre-determined procedures, policies and care plans. Identifies patient/significant other learning needs, readiness for learning, and implements patient teaching as defined by policy and care plans. Documents in patients chart, via electronic medical records and/or paper processes, per policy and in accordance with all regulatory requirements. Demonstrates appropriate delegation of patient care activities and supervises assigned coworkers. Functions as a Charge Nurse when required, including delegation of patient assignments, coordination of staff coverage, and supports staff problem-solving. Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Current Washington State RN Licensure. HCP Level of BLS certification within 30 days of hire. Experience as an acute care registered nurse preferred. AAP NRP Advanced certification required for all RNs working in the Mother Baby Unit prior to the end of orientation. ACLS certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire and renewed every 2 years. AWHONNs Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course required for all L&D RNs and must be obtained within 3 months of completing L&D training.
