Position Summary:

The primary role of the Associate Systems Engineer will be to help implement, maintain and troubleshoot the Commonwealth IT infrastructure. This position will demonstrate technical competency, delivering mission critical infrastructure and support the highest levels of availability, performance and security.

Primary Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Assist in managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructures Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools Help provide high levels of systems and infrastructure availability Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions Help maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies Help write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks Help support the design of information and operational support systems Provide 1st and 2nd level support Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution Exemplify, promote and foster our purpose of Committed to Excellence through our Core Values of Customers, Employees, Character and Mastery All other duties as assigned and required

Required Qualifications:

Security knowledge (Firewalls, Patching strategies, email attacks, etc) Cloud experience Scripting/coding skills Networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)

Education and Experience:

BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject preferred Experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft and Apple based solutions. Experience in the administration of application stacks with virtualization and containerization (VMware). Experience with monitoring systems. Experience with automation software (Kace).
