Job Description
The Operations Manager leads and manages day-to-day warehouse, logistics, and CES activities to ensure the safe, efficient, compliant handling of inbound and outbound cargo, including government-mandated examinations and regular warehouse operations. This role blends leadership, logistics execution, and continuous improvement to meet performance, safety, and customer service goals.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse & CES Operations
Supervise all warehouse activities including receiving, storage, order fulfillment, staging, and shipping.
Coordinate with CBP and customs exam teams to ensure timely pick-up, presentation, and release of containers for CES operations.
Monitor container flows, schedules, demurrage, per diem, and related logistics impacts on yard and dock operations.
Maintain compliance with company policies, CBP requirements, OSHA safety standards, and other regulatory needs.
Team Leadership & Development
Hire, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate warehouse and operations staff.
Lead daily safety briefings, performance reviews, and on-the-floor oversight.
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Inventory & Systems Management
Oversee inventory control processes including cycle counts, reconciliation, and system updates.
Use Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and related software to maximize accuracy and throughput.
Track performance metrics (KPIs) such as labor efficiency, order accuracy, dock turnaround times, and safety incidents.
Process Improvement & Strategy
Identify bottlenecks and implement workflow improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (customer service, transportation, compliance) to optimize service levels.
Support strategic planning to scale Baytown operations aligned with business growth.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelorโs degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Management, or related field
preferred.
5+ years of progressive experience in warehouse, logistics, 3PL, or CES operational leadership.
Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Proficient in warehouse systems (WMS), Microsoft Office Suite, and logistics software.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational abilities.
Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA), inventory control, and customs/CBP exam processes.
Performance Metrics
Safety incident rate (OSHA recordables)
On-time container turn-in/out and CES exam throughput
Inventory accuracy and cycle count variance
Labor productivity and cost efficiency
Customer service and delivery performance
