Associate Attorney (Miami)

McAlpin Florez Marcotte is a boutique maritime law firm seeking to hire a civil litigation attorney (minimum 1 year of experience). Maritime experience is preferred, but it is not required. Attorney will oversee an active caseload and handle day-to-day responsibilities of case defense from inception through trial/appeal. This includes, among other things, initial investigations, witness interviews, written discovery, depositions, hearings, mediation, motion practice, and trial.

Attorney must be able to represent clients in both federal and state courts. Attorney’s cases will also involve arbitrations before tribunals. Cases include, but are not limited to, representation of vessel owners, cruise lines, concessionaires, cargo interests, marine insurance underwriters, and protection & indemnity associations.

Licensed to practice law in the State of Florida is a requirement.

Qualifications:

Attorney must have very strong verbal and writing skills, including the ability to draft pleadings, motions, and defend said motions before courts and tribunals. Attorney must also be a member in good standing with the Florida Bar.
