*POSITION SUMMARY*
The Level 4 Refrigeration Technician serves as an expert in commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. This senior-level role focuses on high-level system analysis, commissioning, and complex troubleshooting of advanced refrigeration and EMS (Energy Management System) controls. The Level 4 Technician provides field leadership, technical training, and ensures excellence in safety, performance, and customer satisfaction across all service operations.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on commercial refrigeration systems, including COโ (transcritical/subcritical) and Ammonia-based systems.
* Commission new rack systems, parallel compressors, VFDs, and complex control systems.
* Design and implement system modifications to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency.
* Perform advanced control integration, programming, and calibration for energy management and defrost systems.
* Lead field training and mentorship for Levels 1โ3 Technicians.
* Assist management with technical audits, root cause analysis, and system reliability reviews.
* Conduct start-ups, commissioning, and system equipment upgrades, and customer consultations for technical recommendations.
ยท Perform leak checks and manage *COโ system charge balance* for efficiency and regulatory compliance.
ยท Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local refrigeration regulations and company procedures.
ยท Represent Prime Refrigeration as a technical authority and uphold the companyโs commitment to professionalism and quality.
ยท Participate in on-call emergency response and provide leadership during critical service events.
*Qualifications & Skills:*
* *7+ years* of commercial refrigeration or HVAC-R experience with proven expertise in rack systems, controls, and large-scale commercial operations.
* EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (Required).
* Advanced understanding of refrigeration cycles, control logic, and system design principles.
ยท Demonstrated expertise in *COโ transcritical/subcritical* and *Ammonia (NHโ)* systems.
ยท Working knowledge of *Parker, Hillphoenix, Danfoss, Emerson, or Bitzer* control systems.
ยทStrong leadership, mentoring, and customer communication skills.
ยท Ability to read, analyze, and develop electrical and mechanical schematics.
ยท Strong organizational and documentation skills; detail-oriented in reporting and system performance verification.
ยท Valid driverโs license and clean driving record.
ยท Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in challenging environments.

* Serve as technical lead for high-priority or complex service projects.
* Demonstrate mastery of all refrigeration system types and control strategies.
* Provide consistent mentorship, guidance, and leadership across the service team.
* Maintain the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
* Act as a field liaison between Service Management and Technicians to ensure job quality and consistency.
