ELECTRICAL ENGINEER III - RDM International, Inc., 14321 Winter Breeze Drive Ste 127, Midlothian, VA 23113 Salary Range: $105,000 - $120,000, commensurate with experience *Qualified candidates need to be within a 50-mile radius of the office location. RDM provides a wide range of professional consulting services including airport civil & electrical design, planning, GIS Applications, forensic investigations and construction phase services. We specialize in pavement evaluation, management and design. We have experienced highly qualified staff with the required credentials and the necessary equipment to efficiently and successfully deliver any project from conception through completion. RDM is searching for a mid-level electrical engineer with a range of work experience, and ready to learn the specialized skills needed for designing airport facilities, aprons, runways, and taxiways. Experience with airport design is helpful but not required. Core Responsibilities Design and Analysis : Create designs for electrical systems such as power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and telecommunications. Conduct analyses like load calculations and voltage drop to ensure system efficiency and compliance with codes. Ensure all design meeting industry standards (e.g. NEC) and safety codes. Airfield Lighting Design : Develop detailed electrical designs, drawings, and specifications for Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL), Signage, Lighting Control & Monitoring Systems (ALCMS), and supporting power infrastructure. Project Management : Lead and manage projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating resources and staff. Be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and clients, verbal and written. Technical Documentation : Produce supporting documents including specifications, calculations, reports, schematics, and construction documents using software like AutoCAD and Revit. Produce quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and CPM schedules. Construction Phase Services & Quality Assurance : Address contractor questions, review and approve material submittals, perform site visit to verify quality and compliance, assist with problem resolution. Collaboration : Work with civil, mechanical, structural engineers on integrated project teams as the electrical subject matter expert. Typical Experience and Qualifications Experience: 4-7 years electrical engineering experience Education: A Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution Technical Skills: Proficiency with CAD, simulation software (EasyPower, SKM Tools, AGI32), control systems, and power quality. Autonomy: Works with general or minimal supervision, demonstrating independent judgment and initiative Additional helpful skills or qualifications Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and Professional Engineer (PE) registrations. RCDD registration. Low voltage system design experience, such as security, surveillance, fire alarms, internet, and network cabling. Industrial control system design experience. Experience with FAA and/or ICAO airport design standards. Experience with U.S. military design standards.
