Associate Attorney Law

*Job Summary* Established criminal defense practice seeks a motivated associate attorney to work directly under a highly respected, well-known criminal defense attorney. This position offers hands-on courtroom experience, direct client interaction, and mentorship in handling a wide range of criminal matters from initial appearance through trial and resolution. *Duties* * Represent clients in criminal defense cases, including bond hearings, motions, plea negotiations, and trials. * Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and legal memoranda. * Assist lead counsel with case strategy, trial preparation, and courtroom proceedings. * communicate with clients, witnesses, experts, and court personnel. * Review discovery, prepare exhibits, and organize case files. * Attend court appearances independently when assigned. * Maintain accurate case notes, deadlines, and client communications. * Stay informed about developments in criminal law and related areas such as family law, immigration law, or securities law as needed *Qualifications* * Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with active bar admission in South Carolina. * Proven experience or strong interest in criminal defense work * Strong research, writing, and courtroom advocacy skills. * Proficiency in legal research platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis * Ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines. * Demonstrated negotiation skills for plea bargaining and client advocacy * Professional demeanor and strong client communication skills. * Prior criminal law experience.
