Director of Procurement (Chicago)

Aegis is partnered with a global industrial manufacturing organization with over 100 years of history and multiple production facilities across North America. This company is a leader in specialty steel production and serves OEMs and tool builders worldwide. They are continuing to modernize operations while maintaining a strong culture rooted in quality and performance. They are seeking a Director of Procurement to lead sourcing strategy and procurement operations across multiple sites.

Daily Responsibilities: Develop and execute enterprise-wide procurement strategy Lead and mentor a team of 4–6 procurement professionals Oversee sourcing for raw materials, MRO, capital equipment, and services Lead high-value contract negotiations and supplier agreements Analyze total cost of ownership and commodity trends Establish supplier KPIs and performance metrics Partner cross-functionally with operations, finance, and engineering Support capital investment projects and plant upgrades Drive risk mitigation and cost reduction initiatives Present spend analysis and procurement strategy to executive leadership

Requirements: 8+ years procurement experience in manufacturing or heavy industry 3+ years leadership managing direct reports Experience sourcing capital equipment and MRO Strong negotiation and contract management skills ERP/MRP system experience Financial acumen and data analysis capability Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution
