Rotating shifts including weekends: primary pattern 2x8/2x12 (6:30 AM - 11:00 PM with call as needed) and a Day 4x10 option (6:30 AM - 6:30 PM). Evening shift staff take weekend call (~24 hours per 4-week period), day shift staff take ~30-40 hours of call per 4-week period; night shift takes minimal weekend call.

Roles & Responsibilities
Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) and hybrid settings
Collaborate with surgical teams during complex cardiac, vascular and transplant procedures to ensure smooth, efficient patient care
Manage perioperative patient assessment, preparation, and recovery with attention to critical monitoring and hemodynamic support
Perform sterile technique, instrument handling, and equipment management for cases including CABG, TAVR, LVAD, IABP and ECMO support
Serve as a dependable call responder to support urgent surgical needs and weekend coverage
Document patient care accurately using EPIC to maintain continuity and regulatory compliance
Participate in unit-based safety protocols: code response, malignant hyperthermia preparedness, and universal protocol time-outs
Qualifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
BLS certification (required); ACLS and NIHSS preferred
EPIC charting experience (required)
Minimum 2+ years experience in cardiac, vascular, and transplant nursing
At least 1 year of CVOR-specific experience
Experience working in a Level I Trauma facility (1 year required)
Minimum 3 years overall OR experience (HARD STOP: 3 years overall or equivalent experience with 2 years dedicated cardiac and vascular)
Comfort with call responsibilities and flexible scheduling
Knowledge & Skills
Perioperative nursing fundamentals and cardiovascular-specific care
Familiarity with cardiac and vascular procedures: CABG, TAVR, TEVAR/EVAR, endovascular interventions
Experience with mechanical circulatory support: LVAD, IABP, ECMO
Robotics exposure (Da Vinci systems) and hybrid OR workflows are a plus
Proficient in blood/blood-products administration and specimen handling
Infection control, radiation safety, and universal protocol (time-out) procedures
Strong intraoperative communication, situational awareness, and emergency response skills
