Position Overview

As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will serve as a lead technical authority responsible for advanced civil and structural engineering work supporting high-voltage electrical transmission and distribution systems (overhead and underground). You will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with all applicable regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

Lead preparation and review of civil construction drawings and mapping for complex high-voltage transmission and distribution systems.

Oversee engineering work to ensure compliance with technical standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.

Serve as Contract Manager for large-scale projects and act as Civil/Transmission Line Project Manager.

Support field crews and contractors to ensure construction aligns with approved designs and specifications.

Perform design and analysis using

PLS-CADD, PLS Pole, PLS Tower , AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.

Apply industry standards including

ASCE, ACI, NESC, and CPUC General Orders .

Inspect transmission line assets and assess right-of-way encroachments.

Prepare technical specifications, cost estimates, bid packages, and reports.

Coordinate cross-functionally with procurement teams, contractors, and government agencies.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.

Minimum 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in design, construction, or maintenance of civil/structural assets.

Experience supporting high-voltage transmission and distribution systems.

Advanced knowledge of project management, cost control, scheduling, and regulatory compliance.

Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and industry-standard design tools.

Highly Desired

Professional Engineer (PE) registration in California.

Transmission design experience above 69kV.

Experience with tower and pole structural design.

Strong working knowledge of PLS-CADD.

Cover Letter Requirement (Mandatory)

To be considered, your cover letter must clearly address: Detailed overhead transmission and distribution experience (including voltages above 69kV and project size/cost).

Detailed underground transmission experience (including voltages above 69kV and project length/cost).

Transmission tower or pole design experience.

Level of proficiency with AutoCAD and PLS-CADD.
