Job Summary:
The Project Controls Specialist handles supporting project management through accurate tracking, reporting, and analysis of labor hours, cost data, and project metrics. This role requires advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to transform raw workforce data (including badge-in and badge-out records) into accurate billable hours, structured reports, and updated project control files. The position plays a critical role in maintaining the Value of Work Done (VOWD) file and providing daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to Project Management.
Must Haves:
-3-5+ years of experience in accounting, project controls, and cost control roles within a construction / labor environment.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel
(XLOOKUP, VLOOKUP, formulas, data validation).
-Strong understanding of labor cost tracking and project reporting.
-Strong analytical skills.
-Experience building reporting dashboards.
-Clear communication skills - project teams and management.
-Ability to work independently in an office environment.
D2D:
-Collect and analyze raw badge-in and badge-out workforce data for all project personnel.
-Accurately calculate daily billable hours based on attendance records and project requirements.
-Validate labor hours against approved work schedules and project allocations.
-Generate daily labor reports summarizing manpower, hours worked, and productivity metrics.
-Prepare weekly and monthly consolidated reports for Project Management review.
-Maintain and continuously update the Value of Work Done (VOWD) file using provided project and cost data.
-Track actual hours versus budgeted hours and identify variances.
-Support forecasting efforts by analyzing historical labor performance trends.
-Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and traceability across all reporting tools.
-Develop and improve Excel-based tracking templates and automated reporting tools.
-Assist Project Management in preparing client-facing reports and internal executive summaries.
-Coordinate with field supervision, payroll, HR, and accounting to resolve discrepancies.
