Job Description
Responsible for meeting patient priority needs by assessing, participating in interdisciplinary care planning, providing and /or delegating care and evaluating patient responses and progress toward clinical outcomes. Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and/or other support staff in the delivery of patient care as described in Nebraska Statute 38.
Initiates assessment and reassessment based on the patients presenting problems/needs in accordance with Bryan Medical Centers procedures.
Synthesizes pertinent initial and ongoing patient data to identify nursing priorities for care and desired outcomes/goals.
Integrates appropriate standards of care into the patients plan of care based on the diagnosis and patient-specific needs.
Incorporates cultural considerations into the plan/delivery of care.
Includes family, significant other, or identified support person in the care of the patient as appropriate.
Documents patient care and related information according to Bryan Medical Center procedures for documentation.
Provides care in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Facilitates patients transition to the next level of care.
Serves as a role model to colleagues, students and other care providers.
Actively participates in continued learning opportunities and continued self-development pertinent to the work unit and duties of the job.
Integrates evidence based research findings into practice in accordance with policy and procedure.
Engages in department specific and organizational performance improvement initiatives.
Appropriately utilizes all safety equipment when indicated and as defined by organizational procedure (i.e. lifting equipment, PPE, sharps, etc.).
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
Maintains clinical competency as required for the unit of assignment including but not limited to population-specific competencies and participates in annual skill competency verification.
Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to nursing applications and relative practice area.
Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with health care team members and diverse patient populations.
Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
