Position Summary
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for applying engineering principles to optimize manufacturing processes, improve plant efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This role focuses on process design, workflow analysis, data evaluation, and the development of standards to improve productivity, quality, and safety across the facility.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
and
2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in industrial or manufacturing engineering preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of process engineering for design, installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and improvement of industrial processes.
Understanding of process simulations and principles of mass, momentum, and heat transfer.
Ability to prepare flow diagrams, process charts, and technical reports.
Knowledge of methods to improve plant efficiency, output, and safety.
Skilled in evaluating process performance through data collection and interpretation.
Understanding of environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance requirements.
Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with production, quality, and operations teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering software for data analysis and problem solving.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Process & Production Engineering
Develop preliminary and conceptual process flow diagrams for new or upgraded processes.
Create performance estimates for studies and budgetary proposals.
Conduct process simulations (computer-based or manual calculations) to support analysis and continuous improvement.
Select, or assist in selecting, materials of construction for major equipment.
Prepare process data sheets and maintain process flow diagrams (PFDs) throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure projects are executed cost‑effectively and meet required performance tests.
Manufacturing & Workflow Optimization
Conduct time, motion, and method studies to establish standard production rates.
Prepare charts, graphs, and diagrams illustrating workflows, material handling, floor layouts, and equipment utilization.
Recommend changes in operations, processes, or layout to improve production efficiency and quality.
Record and analyze test data using statistical quality control methods.
Identify opportunities to improve ergonomics, reduce non‑value‑added work, and enhance equipment performance.
Quality, Compliance & Documentation
Review engineering documentation and specification sheets to ensure product and equipment alignment with requirements.
Monitor compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.
Generate internal and external reports, technical documentation, and presentation materials.
Maintain and update operational standards, metrics, and performance tracking.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
Lead and conduct process experiments, documenting key findings and results.
Initiate ongoing product and process quality improvements using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
Provide technical guidance in equipment and process troubleshooting.
Participate in plant audits, process reviews, and performance assessments.
Training & Collaboration
Plan and conduct manufacturing training on equipment operation, process standards, and quality expectations.
Work closely with quality control, production scheduling, and operating teams to ensure optimal output and consistent product specifications.
