Factory Chemist
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Factory Chemist in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. In this role, you will oversee laboratory operations and ensure accurate chemical analyses that support in-process monitoring, final product quality, and safety verification. You will also provide technical leadership in internal audits and regulatory compliance, helping the facility maintain the highest standards of quality and food safety.
Key Responsibilities

Support facility personnel in identifying process issues by collecting and analyzing data and recommending corrective actions.
Monitor laboratory procedures, test results, and online measurement systems to ensure products meet specifications.
Maintain and enforce standard laboratory analysis procedures, regularly reviewing methods to ensure precision and accuracy, including oversight of satellite labs.
Oversee quality control standards and direct quality assurance activities to ensure compliance and prevent product degradation.
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve product quality complaints and provide technical support as needed.
Partner with facility management to conduct documented audits of HACCP systems and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), recommending improvements and supporting employee training.
Maintain certification as the site SQF Practitioner and lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of food safety and quality plans.
Accompany regulatory inspectors and provide required documentation to corporate management.
Provide technical process accounting, including tracking beet weight, sugar content, production outputs, inventories, and processing materials.
Ensure laboratory staff can provide first aid support in the absence of the Occupational Health Nurse.
Supervise laboratory personnel and ensure the accuracy and integrity of analytical testing and data.
Qualifications
Bachelorโs degree in Chemistry or a closely related field.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet established deadlines.
Experience developing documentation, procedures, and training programs to meet regulatory and customer requirements.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and with regulatory agencies.
