Job Description
We are looking for a Commissioning Manager to join a team leading large-scale data center projects from design through final handover across North America. This role is critical in ensuring that mission-critical systems are installed, integrated, and functioning according to client requirements and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have experience managing commissioning activities for mechanical, electrical, controls, and specialty systems in large-scale or hyperscale data centers.
Role, Responsibilities, and Objectives
The responsibilities include:
• Plan and manage all commissioning activities by developing commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, and documentation standards.
• Define commissioning scope, deliverables, and execution strategy across all project phases, from design to final handover.
• Provide commissioning support during the design phase by reviewing technical documents and contributing to testing and acceptance criteria.
• Coordinate on-site commissioning activities, including inspections, equipment start-up, and functional testing with contractors and vendors.
• Monitor construction readiness and identify technical or schedule issues, driving timely resolution with project stakeholders.
• Lead functional and performance testing of mechanical, electrical, controls, and specialty systems.
• Verify system functionality, integration, and sequences of operation to ensure reliable and compliant performance.
• Track, document, and close commissioning deficiencies prior to system turnover.
• Maintain commissioning records, test documentation, and final reports.
• Ensure commissioning activities comply with safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
• Facilitate commissioning meetings, system handover, and operational training.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all commissioning-related matters and communicate progress to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with design, construction, and operations teams to ensure seamless project delivery and high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in commissioning for mission-critical or data center projects exceeding 10MW.
• Proven experience managing commissioning processes for mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards, including ASHRAE, NFPA, and relevant building codes.
• Experience with commissioning documentation, procedures, and test plans.
• Ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and vendors.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and performance optimization.
• Strong communication skills to convey technical information clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency in project management tools and documentation software.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
