Position Summary

The SVP is responsible for leading all operational functions of a medical courier organization specializing in routed and on-demand logistics services. The SVP ensures operational excellence, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, financial performance, and scalable growth across all service lines. This executive will drive strategy execution, optimize network performance, lead operational teams, and implement systems that support both current service delivery and future expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership Direct all daily operations including routed delivery services, on-demand/stat courier operations, dispatch, fleet management, and field personnel. Ensure service reliability, on-time performance, and adherence to healthcare handling standards (HIPAA, chain-of-custody, temperature-controlled transport). Develop and implement operational processes, SOPs, and performance standards to drive efficiency and service consistency. Oversee capacity planning and route optimization to maximize productivity and profitability.

Financial & Performance Management Manage operational budgets, labor productivity, fleet utilization, and cost controls to meet or exceed EBITDA targets. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including on-time delivery, route profitability, driver productivity, and customer SLAs. Identify and execute operational improvement initiatives that increase margins and scalability.

Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and develop operations leadership including directors, regional managers, and administrative functions. Build workforce planning strategies that support growth while maintaining service quality and compliance. Promote a culture focused on safety, accountability, operational discipline, and customer service excellence.

Strategic Growth & Customer Support Partner with executive leadership to support new market launches, major account onboarding, and service expansion initiatives. Ensure operational readiness for new contracts, including staffing, fleet, routing, and technology deployment. Collaborate with sales and account management teams to maintain high client satisfaction and retention.

Compliance, Safety & Risk Management Ensure compliance with all healthcare logistics regulations, DOT requirements, and company safety standards. Oversee fleet safety programs, driver compliance, and incident response processes. Maintain quality assurance programs supporting healthcare client requirements.

Qualifications

Required 10+ years of progressive operational leadership experience in logistics, transportation, courier, or healthcare distribution environments. Demonstrated success managing multi-site operations, dispatch environments, and field-based workforces. Strong financial acumen with experience managing operational P&L performance. Proven experience implementing operational systems, routing optimization, and process improvement initiatives. Excellent leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Experience in medical courier, healthcare logistics, laboratory transport, or time-critical delivery services. Knowledge of HIPAA, chain-of-custody handling, and regulated transport environments. Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA preferred).
