Job Title: Maintenance Planning Coordinator
Location: Galveston, TX
Schedule: Day Shift
Employment Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire (Strong potential for full-time conversion)
About the Role
The Maintenance Planning Coordinator serves as a key liaison to the Site Superintendent at Clientโs sulfur facility. This facility operates similarly to a small refinery and requires continuous maintenance due to sulfur corrosion.
This role is responsible for coordinating maintenance planning activities, managing work orders and purchase orders, supporting contractor oversight, and ensuring materials and resources are aligned with site needs.
Approximately 50% of the role is office-based planning and coordination, and 50% is spent in the field supporting active maintenance work.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Planning & Coordination
Act as liaison between Site Superintendent and maintenance teams
Plan and coordinate preventive, corrective, and project-based maintenance work
Track and manage work orders in CMMS (SAP, Maximo, or similar system)
Develop job scopes and assist in scheduling maintenance activities
Review drawings, piping diagrams, and equipment documentation
Vendor and Contract Management
Coordinate contractor activities and ensure scope alignment
Create and track purchase orders (POs) in SAP
Oversee vendor performance and material deliveries
Ensure materials are received, staged, and ready for execution
Field Oversight:
Conduct routine field walk-downs
Verify work progress and material usage
Ensure maintenance tasks align with scope and safety requirements
Provide hands-on coordination support for piping, valves, and related systems
Administrative & Reporting
Participate in planning meetings and Teams calls
Maintain accurate maintenance records
Track project and maintenance progress
Support documentation and compliance needs
Qualifications:
Experience in maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, or maintenance management
Experience using CMMS systems (SAP, Maximo, or similar)
Experience tracking work orders, purchase orders, and contractor activities
Ability to read and interpret piping drawings, P&IDs, and diagrams
Strong organizational and communication skills
Willingness to work both in the office and in the field
Experience with piping and valve systems
Vendor or contractor management experience
Supervisory or team oversight experience
Work Environment:
Industrial facility comparable to a small refinery
High corrosion environment requiring consistent maintenance
