Medical Director Job Overview: Contemporary Staffing Solutions is seeking a Medical Director to join our client to provide physician leadership that supports high-quality, cost-effective medical decision-making across health plan operations. This fully remote, contract role requires residency within NJ, DE, or PA and partners closely with utilization and care management teams to ensure coverage determinations align with clinical best practices and plan guidelines. The Medical Director brings deep clinical expertise, population health insight, and sound judgment to support patient safety, quality outcomes, and responsible resource use. This is a one-year contract opportunity starting January 5th. Compensation: $145/hour Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, with potential for occasional weekend coverage Key Responsibilities of the Medical Director: Provide physician leadership for utilization and care management activities, supporting timely and appropriate coverage and payment determinations. Apply evidence-based clinical guidelines and best practices to evaluate medical necessity, quality, and cost considerations. Collaborate with internal clinical teams, leadership, and external partners to promote effective, patient-centered care delivery. Support population health, quality management, and patient safety initiatives across multiple lines of business. Ensure decisions align with health plan terms, provider contracts, and applicable regulatory requirements. Qualifications and Skills for the Medical Director: Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited medical or osteopathic school. Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license with no encumbrances. Current board certification through ABMS or AOBMS; family medicine or internal medicine preferred. Strong clinical judgment with the ability to navigate utilization management and health insurance frameworks. Ability to successfully complete required credentialing processes.
