Job Requirements / Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum 2 years recent Pediatric Cardiac ICU (PCICU/CV PICU) experience required
Clinical Background:
Pediatric and cardiovascular ICU experience; post?operative cardiac surgical care
Preferred:
Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) experience — VAD training provided upon arrival
License:
Active South Carolina RN license or Multi?State/Compact RN license (pending SC license considered with proof of application)
Certifications:
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS and PALS required; AHA ACLS preferred
Patient Age Groups:
Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
Travel Nurses:
First?time travelers welcome
Responsibilities
Provide high?acuity pediatric cardiac critical care for congenital and acquired heart disease patients
Care for post?operative pediatric cardiac surgery patients, heart transplant recipients, and those requiring advanced therapies
Monitor and manage advanced devices and therapies including ECMO, CRRT, VADs (Berlin Heart, HeartMate 3, Impella), ventilators, and continuous sedation/vasoactive infusions
Perform hemodynamic monitoring, central line care, blood draws, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (respiratory therapy, pharmacy, dietitians, IV team, social services) to optimize patient outcomes
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic EMR and adhere to unit safety, quality, and infection prevention protocols
Participate in unit?based initiatives, quality improvement, and support pediatric palliative care as needed
Float to NICU, PICU, and Pediatric Stepdown units within scope as required
