Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Litigation Paralegal to support a busy defense practice handling construction defect, delay claims, payment disputes, mechanic’s liens, and contract litigation. This role involves managing complex case files, preparing discovery, and assisting attorneys through all phases of litigation in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, and settlement documents.
Organize and maintain case files, including construction contracts, change orders, plans, specifications, and expert reports.
Conduct legal research on construction law, statutes, and case law; summarize findings and prepare memoranda.
Coordinate depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and expert witness scheduling.
Prepare trial binders, exhibit lists, and trial preparation materials.
Manage e-filing, calendaring of deadlines, and compliance with court rules.
Assist with lien filings, mechanic’s lien foreclosures, and bond claims.
Communicate with clients, subcontractors, insurers, and opposing counsel.
Qualifications:
3+ years of paralegal experience in construction litigation or commercial disputes (defense side preferred).
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, AIA documents, mechanics liens, and defect claims.
Proficiency in case management software (Clio, Filevine, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines.
Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience required.
