#CA-TSThe role of the Sr. Physician Assistant within the Department of Emergency Medical is to provide independent, advanced level Sr. Physician Assistant clinical operations to Emergency Medical patients as well as their families. This includes the management of chronic or stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, while following specialty protocols as defined by standardized procedures. This may include non-invasive or invasive procedures including surgical procedures. Including operative first assist per approved standardized procedure for your specific department. This position has clinical responsibilities in both outpatient and in-patient environments as well as pre and post op coordination and management. Patient management decisions are independent where appropriate after assessment of the patient and interdependent with consultation with an attending or other member of the team. California Licensed Physicians Assistant (PA)
National Certification (NCCPA) as a Physician Assistant in an aligned specialty with the practice area.
American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications
Advanced Trauma Life support (ATLS) certifications within 1 year of hire
Graduation with a master's or PhD degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
At least five years full time, or equivalent, experience as a PA in the aligned specialty
Ability to provide direct patient care to a diversified complex patient population. Ability to serve as an operational leader in precepting and educating students, residents and advanced practice learners.
Working knowledge of HIPPA regulations.
Applies knowledge, experience, and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations.
Ability to participate in patient and staff education
Demonstrated leadership skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Judgement skills to effectively meet the needs of patients
Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role
Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as billable provider
Demonstrates accountability for own practices as defined by the California Physician Assistant Board.

Department OverviewEmergency Medicine provides Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma care for more than 33 of California's 58 counties. UC Davis Health System is home to state-of-the-art emergency care for children. Our Pediatric Emergency Department features the only Level 1 pediatric trauma center in inland Northern California (verified by the American College of Surgeons). From Portland to Fresno, from outside the Bay Area to Reno, no other hospital in inland Northern California has a Level 1 adult and pediatric trauma center servicing approximately 70,000 patients each year.The Department of Emergency Medicine at UC Davis provides a dedicated team of physicians, nurses, 42 residents, and a total of 26 specialists of every medical and surgical specialty to treat critically ill and injured adults and children. Our team provides an extraordinary level of knowledge, skill and compassion to every patient we serve at our Level 1 Surgery and Emergency Services Pavilion. The Emergency Department is prepared and equipped to provide comprehensive and efficient emergency care to patients in need of medical and surgical specialty physicians to treat critical and acute illnesses and injuries 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.Department Specific Job ScopeSr. PA in the Emergency Department at UC Davis Medical Center provides care to adult and pediatric with a variety of emergent needs.
