Job Description

*Summary* The District Manager serves as a strategic leader responsible for recruiting, developing, and managing a high-performing team of captive Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance agents. This role drives market growth, strengthens agency performance, and ensures operational excellence across the district. The District Manager provides hands-on coaching, business planning support, and leadership to both new and experienced agents while upholding company standards, compliance expectations, and long-term profitability goals. This position requires a dynamic leader who excels in talent development, sales strategy, relationship management, and field operations. The District Manager plays a critical role in shaping agency culture, expanding market presence, and ensuring agents have the tools, training, and support needed to build sustainable, customer-focused businesses. *Essential Duties and Responsibilities* _Other duties may be assigned._ *Agent Recruitment and Selection* * Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts to attract high-quality captive agents who align with company values and performance expectations. * Utilize diverse sourcing strategies, networking, and community engagement to build a strong candidate pipeline. * Conduct interviews, evaluate competencies, and make hiring recommendations based on company-approved standards. *Training, Onboarding and Development* * Collaborate on the development and delivery of new-agent classroom training, curriculum, and schedules. * Facilitate onboarding programs that establish strong foundational knowledge in P&C and Life products, compliance, sales processes, and customer service. * Provide structured coaching through the Career Launch program to help new agents build successful habits, prospecting strategies, and business development plans. *Performance Management and Business Growth* * Partner with Career Agents to develop individualized business plans, marketing strategies, and growth initiatives. * Conduct a minimum of two in-person agency visits per year to assess operations, identify opportunities, and provide targeted coaching. * Participate in joint case work to support agents in closing business and improving sales effectiveness. * Monitor performance metrics, identify trends, and implement corrective action plans when necessary. *Leadership, Culture and Engagement* * Serve as a visible leader who promotes a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement. * Present and participate in Life Club, Career Builders, and other company meetings, contributing insights and best practices. * Encourage professional development for agents and self, completing at least one professional improvement activity annually. * Represent the company at required functions, community events, and industry activities.​​​​​​​ *Operational Excellence and Compliance* * Ensure agents adhere to company policies, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements. * Maintain awareness of claims practices, risk selection standards, and industry trends. * Communicate field issues, emerging risks, and market insights to senior leadership in a timely and accurate manner. * Manage district operations with strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to prioritize under pressure. *Education and Experience* Bachelor’s degree preferred; or three to four years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Prior experience in insurance sales leadership, agency management, or field operations strongly preferred. *Certifications* * P&C and Life & Health Agent Licenses (or willingness to obtain) * FINRA registration preferred * Valid driver’s license *Required Knowledge and Skills* * Strong personal computer skills * In-depth knowledge of property/casualty and life insurance products * Ability to manage agents and resolve field issues and conflicts * Ability to identify adverse trends and communicate them promptly * Knowledge of claims and claims practices * Thorough understanding of insurance and policy contracts * Ability to work independently and make fair, impartial risk-selection decisions * Strong communication skills and creative problem-solving abilities * Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures * Ability to motivate others and maintain a broad, objective perspective * Awareness of industry practices, challenges, and potential solutions * Ability to work under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities to meet corporate goals * Travel required, including some overnight stays *Physical Requirements* Work is performed in a typical office environment. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
