Position Purpose
The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for generating sales by building and maintaining strong customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and achieving established sales targets.

Primary Role Responsibilities

Conduct in-home or on-site consultations with residential and commercial customers to assess needs, preferences, and budgets
Utilize extensive product knowledge to recommend appropriate materials and provide expert guidance on features, installation, and care
Accurately measure spaces and prepare professional sales quotes based on selected materials and installation requirements
Process sales orders and coordinate installation schedules with appropriate teams
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, builders, designers, and key accounts to encourage repeat business
Identify and pursue new business opportunities through outbound calling, networking, referrals, and job site visits
Stay current with industry trends, competitor offerings, new products, and best practices
Meet or exceed individual and team sales goals
Prepare sales reports outlining performance metrics and growth opportunities
Maintain a customer-first approach throughout the sales and post-sale process, resolving concerns promptly
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance
1–5 years of proven outside sales experience, preferably focused on business development and lead generation
Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets
Experience in building materials, interior design, or home improvement preferred
Strong knowledge of building material products, features, benefits, and basic installation techniques
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to build lasting client relationships and provide tailored solutions
Proficiency in CRM systems, order entry platforms, and Microsoft Office
Ability to measure rooms and calculate square footage/yardage accurately
Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently
Commitment to exceptional customer service
Willingness to participate in ongoing training and industry education
Energetic, engaging interpersonal style with a strong drive to succeed
Ability to overcome objections and close sales
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
