Roles & Responsibilities
Triage and prioritize high-acuity oncology and general ED patients quickly and safely
Provide expert emergency nursing care including IV starts, central line maintenance, and blood product administration
Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret dysrhythmias using telemetry and 12-lead ECG
Administer emergency medications and manage IV vasopressors per protocol
Manage respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP and ventilated patient care, and interpret ABGs
Perform phlebotomy and other essential procedures with attention to safety and infection control
Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC to support continuity of care
Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology and social services to deliver coordinated care
Advocate for oncology patients in an ED setting, balancing urgent needs with compassionate communication
Participate in unit safety practices and adhere to isolation precautions and PPE guidelines
Qualifications
Active RN license (Ohio or compact) required
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience required (HARD STOP)
EPIC charting experience required
Current BCLS (BLS), ACLS, NIHSS and PALS certifications required/preferred
Comfort working a 1:3-1:4 patient ratio in a high-acuity environment
Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Ability to complete a 76-hour orientation and adapt to floating between related ED pods
Education
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; ADN or BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
Strong triage skills and emergency nursing judgment
Proficient in IV starts, IV therapy and phlebotomy
Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
12-lead ECG acquisition and reading
Experience with central line care and blood product administration
Familiarity with emergency medications and IV vasopressor management
Comfort managing BiPAP/CPAP and ventilated patients, and interpreting ABGs
Working knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and infection control
Experience caring for adolescents through geriatrics, including pediatric and oncology populations
Team-oriented communication and efficient EPIC documentation
