Job Description
Family Law of North Texas is seeking a full-time, in-person Family Law Paralegal to support our litigation team. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in managing family law cases from intake through final hearing.
Responsibilities include drafting pleadings and legal documents, communicating professionally with clients, managing court deadlines, preparing and responding to discovery, and assisting attorneys with hearing and trial preparation. This role requires strong writing skills, the ability to handle sensitive client matters with professionalism, and the capacity to manage multiple active cases in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate understands Texas family law procedure, is comfortable working directly with clients, and takes ownership of case progression and preparation.
Conduct interviews with clients to gather information about their legal issues
Help lawyers prepare for trial by preparing and organizing exhibits, assisting with client meetings, filing motions, conducting research on legal articles, and organizing and coordinating witnesses
Prepare legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings such as complaints, interrogatories, subpoenas, deposition notices, pretrial orders, legal briefs, and affidavits, under the supervision of a lawyer
Draft subpoenas and coordinate with process servers
Take care of administrative tasks such as answering phones and maintaining an organized filing system for all legal documents
Prepare and respond to discovery, including drafting interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for disclosure
Organize, review, and summarize financial documents and evidence
Communicate professionally with clients regarding case updates, document requests, and procedural steps
E-file documents with Texas courts and ensure compliance with local rules
Maintain organized digital and physical case files
3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting
~ Strong preference for candidates who have completed a paralegal professional certification or have an advanced paralegal education
~ Must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired
